The head of the Cybercrime Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Police Colonel Ramil Tukhbatullin, warned about dangerous SIM cards in an interview with a Bashinform journalist, which will be published on November 10.
"People previously used a SIM card, then, for example, bought another one, but didn't unlink it from their personal accounts. It was linked to a banking app. They stopped using the card, and after a few months, the operator transferred it to a so-called 'sedimentation zone.' Fraudsters gain access to such SIM cards through backdoors, restore them, and easily access apps," warned a representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Bashkortostan.
He recommended that when changing a SIM card, people unlink their phone number as much as possible from all their personal accounts—at banks, marketplaces, and microfinance organizations.
