"To establish a professional holiday, Court Worker's Day, and celebrate it on November 5," the document states.
The celebration coincides with the issuance of Emperor Peter I's decree "On the Form of the Court." This decree was issued on November 5, 1723.
The document established the procedure for hearing cases in courts and stipulated that civil cases and most criminal cases be heard with the direct participation of both parties. Furthermore, it included provisions regarding the court's actions upon summoning the plaintiff or defendant, as well as the court's right to apply coercive measures against the parties, such as arrest.
The initiative to establish a holiday was supported by Russian President Vladimir Putin, whom Supreme Court Chief Justice Igor Krasnov addressed.
