Bashkiria celebrates National Costume Day
The holiday has been held since 2020 by decree of the Head of the region, Radiy Khabirov, and is held twice a year: on the third Friday of April and the second Friday of September.
Today, September 12, Bashkiria celebrates the Day of National Costume of the Peoples of the Republic. This holiday reminds us of the richness and beauty of the culture of the people living in the region. National costumes are not just clothes, but a symbol of history, traditions, and spiritual heritage that is passed down from generation to generation.
Each costume reflects the character and worldview of the people: patterns and ornaments carry deep meaning, colors convey mood and values, and unique elements become recognizable symbols.
In honor of the Day of National Costume, events dedicated to the significant date are taking place today in all corners of the republic. Thus, the National Museum of the Republic of Bashkiria has planned a Day in the Ethnic Style. A crafts fair, master classes on traditional crafts, lectures on traditional costumes, a photo session, a tour — these events can be attended for free, wearing a national costume or jewelry.
The State Academic Folk Dance Ensemble Faizi Gaskarova will hold a traditional exhibition "The Ringing of Bracelets", where you can see and even try on costumes and jewelry created for dancing.
The National Library of the Republic of Bashkortostan invites you to a round table "National Costume: Image, Style, Spirit", as well as a program with the participation of Bashkir pop and literary artists, master classes from folk craftsmen, and thematic exhibitions.
The House of Friendship of Peoples of the Republic of Bashkortostan invites you to spend this day in the Art-square space, where you can circle in a circle of friendship and listen to performances by artists and groups of the republic.
One of the most significant cultural events of the year, the final of the International Competition of Masters of the Bashkir National Costume, will be held in the Aksakov Culture and Recreation Garden. Visitors will see the works of the winners, an exhibition fair, a photo zone, a children's play area, and evening games.
