English language study may be reduced for students in grades 5-7

From September 1, 2025, the number of hours for studying English in grades 5-7 in Russian schools will be reduced to two per week. At the same time, a reduction in the number of German lessons is planned from 2026.

"The total number of hours recommended for studying a foreign (English) language is 408 hours: in grade 5 - 68 hours (2 hours per week), in grade 6 - 68 hours (2 hours per week), in grade 7 - 68 hours (2 hours per week)," follows from the text of the project.

It is reported that from September 1, 2025, the innovation will also affect those who study Spanish, Chinese, and French.
