State Duma has approveda law on fines for searching for extremist materials

The amount of fines will vary from 3 to 5 thousand rubles. According to the law, punishment will be applied only if there is proven intent, and access to social networks and VPNs is not prohibited.

According to the Chairman of the State Duma, the law on liability for deliberately searching for extremism on the Internet is necessary so that innocent citizens do not suffer, as well as those who, by virtue of their professional activities, must analyze such information.

 Vyacheslav Volodin noted that it is possible that the established norms will require adjustment.
