A vacation in Turkey ended before it began for the Yudin family from Ufa, who traveled with two children. Their bag with documents, money, and phones was reportedly stolen or mistakenly taken from the overhead luggage compartment on the plane.
According to the Telegram channel Readovka, the family discovered the loss upon arrival. Dmitry, the head of the family, said he immediately returned to the plane to check, but the bag was gone. Airport staff took no action—requests to review security cameras or contact the tour operator were denied, Dmitry claims.
Neither the airline representatives nor the Turkish police could assist. Since the family did not clear customs, they had not officially crossed the border, limiting the authorities' powers. The Yudins were advised to fly back to Russia.
“We asked them to check cameras or contact the tour operator to find out who sat nearby or which hotel they registered at—maybe someone accidentally took the documents. But no such actions are being taken. They might send us back to Sheremetyevo today because the airline staff offered no other exit options. And there’s no understanding of how we will cross the border in our own country without documents,” Dmitry said.
The Bashkir Ministry of Tourism told Bashinform that in such cases, tourists should seek assistance only from the consulate.
