This initiative is one of twelve launched as part of Russia’s Decade of Science and Technology, started in 2021 to popularize science and integrate it into the economic and social life of the regions.
Thanks to the popular science tourism program, residents across Russia can see the current progress of domestic science, explore the achievements of local developers, visit research laboratories, and experience what it’s like to be a real scientist. Bashkortostan has launched nine such educational routes. More details are available via the link.
Currently, the XIII All-Russian Congress of Councils of Young Scientists and Student Scientific Societies is taking place in Ufa as part of the Decade of Science.
Andrey Voronin, Vice-Rector for Education at the University of Science and Technology MISIS, told the agency’s journalist that the set of initiatives for the fourth year of the program is formed and now in the technology implementation stage.
Voronin noted that Bashkortostan maintains close cooperation with the Decade of Science office and local universities.
“The universities here certainly pay significant personal attention to the development of Decade projects, and Bashkortostan scientists actively participate in scientific volunteering. In terms of advancing the scientific tourism initiative, Bashkortostan is ahead of all other regions.
Regarding hosting the current congress of young scientists in Ufa, regions compete for the right because they understand the potential benefits: the issues it can address and the tasks it can set for science. When science inevitably becomes a regional agenda priority, especially when aligned with federal and regional efforts, the positive effects become visible to all,” said the MISIS vice-rector.
