The 13th All-Russian Congress of Young Scientists and Student Scientific Societies begins today, July 2, in Ufa. The large-scale federal forum is taking place at the Toratau Congress Hall and will run through July 4.
The primary goal of the congress is to involve young scientists in addressing key challenges in the development of society and the country. The congress is held annually by order of the President of the Russian Federation and is part of the Decade of Science and Technology (2022–2031).
The business program includes more than 50 events. In addition to panel discussions with government officials, leaders of scientific organizations and universities, and prominent researchers, the forum features a hands-on component: each day offers masterclasses and project work focused on the country’s “science policy.”
The congress’s main event will be the plenary session titled “From the Depths of Traditions to the Heights of Technologies”, which will take place today, July 2, at 12:00 p.m. at the Toratau Congress Hall. Participants will discuss the historical and current diversity of the scientific organization system in Russia, and how it contributes to the national goal—outlined by the President and stated in the Strategy for Scientific and Technological Development—of advancing toward technological leadership.
The congress will bring together around 2,000 scientists from Russia, Belarus, China, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Armenia, and Kyrgyzstan. Among the guests are representatives of federal, regional, and sectoral councils of young scientists, student scientific societies, recipients of the Presidential Award in Science and Innovation for Young Scientists, young researchers receiving state support, youth lab leaders, alumni of the national management development program in science and education, as well as students and postgraduates from across the country.
More details about the program can be found on the event’s official website.
