Russia has announced retirement schedule from 2025

Since 2018, Russia has been undergoing a large-scale pension system reform. The retirement age is gradually increasing because people are living longer, and the number of working people is decreasing.

For a long time, since 1932, the retirement age in Russia has not changed - 55 years for women and 60 years for men. Since the reform began, the retirement age has been increasing gradually, allowing citizens time to adapt to the new figures.

During the transition period, the retirement age varies depending on the year of birth.

Women born in 1964 retired at 55.5 years, men born in 1959 — at 60.5 years, women born in 1965 retired at 56.5 years, men born in 1960 — at 61.5 years, women born in 1966 retired at 58 years (since 2024), men born in 1961 — at 63 years (since 2024).

Women born in 1967 will retire at 59 years (since 2026), men born in 1962 — at 64 years (since 2026), women born in 1968 and younger — at 60 years (since 2028), men born in 1963 and younger — at 65 years (since 2028).

Despite the increase in the retirement age, specific categories of citizens continue to retain benefits and can retire early. For example, women with five or more children can retire at 50, women with four children at 56 (since 2019), and women with three children at 57.

Citizens with a long work record: men with 42 years of work experience and women with 37 years of work experience can retire two years earlier, but not earlier than 60 for men and 55 for women.
