Bashkiria applied to participate in "ProEDU po Rossii!" program

The government of the Republic of Bashkiria reported that Bashkiria can become a region participating in the federal program "ProEDU po Rossii!" to develop gastronomic tourism and promote republican culinary brands.

The program is designed to develop the industry's human resources potential, improve service standards, and create a new infrastructure for gastronomic tourism.

"Tourist interest in Bashkortostan is growing steadily every year. It is necessary to develop not only the accommodation infrastructure, but also to increase the number of catering establishments and promote our traditional cuisine more actively. There are already about 1 thousand food industry enterprises and more than 3.5 thousand catering outlets in the Republic. Bashkortostan is a unique gastronomic region with rich culinary traditions. This niche is promising for small and medium businesses and farms, and we must use this potential," commented the Republic's Prime Minister Andrey Nazarov.

According to the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Bashkortostan, catering turnover in Bashkortostan in 2024 amounted to 57.4 billion rubles, which is 121.5% of the 2023 level.

"On April 15 of this year, we sent the Gastronomic Passport of the Republic of Bashkortostan to the ASI. According to the established deadlines, the results of the selection of regions participating in the "ProEDU across Russia!" program will be summed up on June 1, 2025," said the head of the department, Azat Askarov.

Earlier, Russia proposed that BRICS create an Association of Gastronomic Tourism.
