Smart Pedestrian Crossing tested in Ufa

An automated system called “Smart Pedestrian Crossing” may appear in Ufa. According to the capital’s administration, the experimental program of Ufagorsvet was developed to improve the safety of pedestrians and drivers at night and in conditions of poor visibility.

The smart “zebra” does not use sensors, but video cameras that react to movement. When an object is detected, an audible alert is activated, and a street gobo projector displays a light “zebra” on the road surface, warning drivers about the presence of people on the pedestrian crossing.

After successful testing, the company plans to implement the system at intersections in Ufa, which will significantly reduce the risk of accidents and improve the safety of all road users.
