Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated veterans of the Great Patriotic War on the 80th anniversary of Victory and thanked them for saving the world from mortal danger.
"I congratulate you on a great, truly historic event—the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The Great Victory will forever remain a symbol of our national triumph, the triumph of peace, goodness, and justice. You, veterans, crushed the cruel enemy, defended the freedom and independence of the Motherland, and saved humanity from a mortal threat.
We will always be proud of the selfless feats of your generation—the generation of heroes and creators. And our descendants will preserve this boundless gratitude. I wish you health and success," the congratulations, which are at the disposal of TASS, say.
May 9 will be celebrated throughout the republic, the largest of which will be in the capital. These include the ceremonial laying of flowers at the General Shaimuratov Memorial, the Eternal Flame, and memorials in Victory Park, a large parade of more than 2,000 people, a festive concert, and other memorable events with the obligatory participation of war heroes.
Also, this year, the all-Russian civil-patriotic action "Immortal Regiment" will be held again in all cities and urban settlements of Bashkortostan. About 200 thousand people are expected to participate in it in Ufa alone. The last time the procession was held in a full-scale format was in 2022, when 172 thousand people took part in Ufa, and 480 thousand in Bashkiria as a whole.
