More than 9 thousand people greeted Victory Locomotive in Ufa

On the eve of the 80th anniversary of the Victory, the retro train "Victory Locomotive" visited Ufa. About 9,100 people attended the ceremonial meeting for the train. Among them were representatives of the government of the republic, the administration of Ufa, the management of the Kuibyshev Railway, railway workers, veterans, public figures, schoolchildren and students.

The festive train was headed by the L-3854 steam locomotive ("Lebedyanka"). The train included platforms with military equipment, including an amphibious vehicle supplied to the USSR under Lend-Lease and which participated in battles. A festive concert accompanied the welcoming ceremony, and a field kitchen was in operation. The drivers of the retro train cooked traditional scrambled eggs with lard on a shovel according to an old recipe right in the firebox of the locomotive.

 This year, the Victory Steam Locomotive will travel more than 3,000 km, with stops planned at 14 stations. From Ufa, the retro train departed for Sterlitamak.
