Russian budget will allocate 2.5 billion rubles for technology startups

Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko announced that 2.5 thousand students will receive 1 million rubles each this year to implement technology startups—500 more than the year before.

The Ministry of Education and Science has announced another grant competition, "Student Startup." You can submit an application on the project's official website until May 20. Students from all universities in the country can participate in the competition. Since the grant competition began in 2022, 4.5 thousand startups have been supported.

This year, for the first time, postgraduate students and residents of scientific organizations will be able to join the competition. "Their involvement in creating technology startups will allow us to establish even closer ties between research institutes and businesses, shorten the path from an idea to its transformation into a real technology or product," commented the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Valery Falkov. The Student Startup competition accepts projects in current priority areas - digital technologies, medicine, chemistry, new devices, biotechnology, energy, and creative industries. According to the terms of the competition, grant recipients must register a legal entity, develop a business plan, and launch a website for their startup.

Last year, 120 Bashkir students received grants—the republic entered the top four regions with the highest number of winners.
