Decree on spring conscription for military service signed in Russia
Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the spring conscription for military service.
The corresponding document was posted on the official Publication of Legal Acts website on March 31.
"I decree to implement from April 1 to July 15, 2025, the conscription of citizens of the Russian Federation aged 18 to 30 years who are not in the reserve and are subject to conscription for military service," says.
It is noted that 160 thousand Russians are planned to be conscripted. In addition, the decree will dismiss conscripts who have served in the army.
In 2024, spring conscription was extended to 150 thousand people, in 2023 to 147 thousand people, and in 2022 to 134.5 thousand people. The increase is associated with the implementation of Putin's decrees on a gradual increase in the size of the Russian army. At the beginning of 2022, Russia had about 1 million military personnel. Over three years, the staffing level was raised to 1.5 million people.
