Russia approves Strategy for family and demographic policy

The Russian government has approved the Strategy for implementing family and demographic policy and supporting large families. The document is designed until 2036 and aims to preserve the country's population by increasing the birth rate, strengthening family health, and creating conditions for children's development.

Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin noted that the key mechanism of the approved Strategy will be the new national project "Family." According to him, an important area will be improving assistance to parents and future mothers and fathers, including expanding the opportunity to combine work and study with the birth and upbringing of children, improving their living conditions.

In addition, it is planned to develop a comprehensive program for protecting motherhood and childhood, preserving the health of children and adolescents. Also, within the framework of the Strategy, major repairs and additional equipment of kindergartens will be continued, transport accessibility of kindergartens and schools for children from remote areas will be increased, public spaces for joint recreation of families with children of different ages will be developed, and the quality of recreation and health conditions for children will be improved.
