Prime Minister of Bashkortostan Andrey Nazarov asked for forgiveness on his social media.

“Today is Forgiveness Sunday! This is the end of Maslenitsa week, after which Lent begins. On this day, traditionally, there are large festivities and fairs, the culmination of which is the burning of an effigy of winter, farewell to the cold, all the bad and unpleasant things that happened during the year. And, of course, pancakes - a symbol of sunlight and warmth!” Andrey Nazarov wrote.

The Prime Minister recalled how they celebrated “farewell to winter” in Soviet childhood.

“Despite ideological restrictions, people even then found ways to preserve the spirit of Maslenitsa. And for us, guys, these were simply joyful and fun days when you can forget about everyday worries and enjoy communicating with loved ones. This holiday makes people happy and plays an essential role in strengthening family ties and preserving our cultural heritage. How many children will go out with their parents today to walk, participate in folk amusements and eat pancakes to their heart's content! How many rosy, happy faces! "

Andrey Nazarov noted the symbolism of this year's end of Maslenitsa, which almost coincides with the beginning of spring.
