Russians will be able to see all SIM cards registered to them

The head of the Russian Ministry of Digital Development, Maksut Shadayev, said at the forum “Cybersecurity in Finance” that a service will be launched on Gosuslugi from April 1 that will allow users to check all SIM cards registered to them. According to federal media, the minister explained that there are cases when fraudsters register SIM cards in people’s names and use them, and the owners do not even suspect it.

Maksut Shadayev said a ban on advertising spam calls would be introduced in the summer. All organizations are identified, and subscribers will see who is calling them.

The head of the Ministry of Digital Development recalled that an antifraud platform would appear on Gosuslugi at the end of 2024: “If one of the triggers is triggered, everything related to the provision of a 2-NDFL statement, information from a credit bureau, and so on is frozen for 72 hours. In the two months since the antifraud system was implemented, it has “cooled” 250 thousand suspicious accounts.”

Since January 1, 2025, the country has tightened the procedure for selling Russian operators' SIM cards to foreigners. This measure is intended to combat fraud.

Now, foreigners can only purchase a SIM card in person at a communications store; one person can register no more than 10 numbers, including corporate ones.

From April 1, Russians will be able to have no more than 20 numbers.
