Russian government submitted to the State Duma a bill increasing fines for violations of information protection rules in state information systems. The document was published in the legislative support system.
It is proposed that fines for using uncertified information systems be increased to 5-10 thousand rubles (currently 1.5-2.5 thousand). For the use of uncertified information protection tools, it is proposed to fine officials in the amount of 20 to 50 thousand rubles (currently the fine is 3-4 thousand rubles), legal entities - from 50 to 100 thousand rubles (currently 20-30 thousand rubles). For violation of information protection requirements, the fine for individuals may be from 5 to 10 thousand rubles (currently 500-1000 rubles), officials - from 10 to 50 thousand rubles (currently 1-2 thousand rubles), legal entities - from 50 to 100 thousand rubles (currently 10-15 thousand rubles).
In addition, the statute of limitations for administrative offenses provided for by the article on violation of information protection rules (Article 13.12 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation) is proposed to be increased from two months to a year.
The increase in the number of cases of unauthorized access to restricted information and disruption of the functioning of information systems of government agencies and organizations justifies the proposed measures. These were caused by failure to comply with information protection requirements.
