Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin said at a meeting in the Russian government that more than 2.6 million square meters have been resettled in the Volga Federal District since 2019, and 167 thousand people have moved into new houses.
"The program for resettlement from uninhabitable houses is an important part of regional development and the well-being of our citizens. Since 2019, this task has been addressed within the national project "Housing and Urban Environment." More than 810 thousand people have moved into new apartments during this time. In the Volga Federal District alone, since 2019, the dilapidated housing stock has decreased by more than 2.6 million square meters, and about 167 thousand citizens have moved from uninhabitable houses. In particular, about 34 thousand people have improved their housing conditions thanks to programs implemented by the regions at the expense of their budgets. Work is already underway under the national project “Infrastructure for Life,” said the head of the government’s construction block.
Until 2024, the country had been resettling houses that were declared unsafe before January 1, 2017. Several regions, including Bashkiria, have already been resettling houses declared unsafe after 2017.
“The Saratov, Nizhny Novgorod, Orenburg regions, Tatarstan, and Bashkortostan have begun resettling houses declared unfit for habitation after 2017. Of the total, they resettled 289.1 thousand square meters of such housing, in which more than 16 thousand citizens lived,” said Ilshat Shagiakhmetov, CEO of the Territorial Development Fund.
