President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on a one-time payment of 80 thousand rubles to veterans of the Great Patriotic War. The head of state announced this on January 15 at a meeting of the Russian organizing committee "Victory."
It is noted that in addition to the veterans themselves, payments will also be received by home front workers and residents of besieged Leningrad, adult prisoners of concentration camps, and those who worked at air defense facilities, naval and air bases, and built defensive structures during the Great Patriotic War. For them, the amount of payments will be 55 thousand rubles.
The President also supported the Russian Defense Ministry's initiative to grant all participants in the Great Patriotic War the title of honorary citizen of a region, city, or municipality.
