Military parades will be held in Russian cities in the year of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. This was announced at a meeting of the Russian Organizing Committee "Victory."
Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov said military parades will be held in Moscow and eight more hero cities, as well as 19 cities where the headquarters of military districts, fleets, combined arms armies, and the Caspian Flotilla are stationed. The parade crews will include participants in the special military operation.
The military parades will include a historical component as in previous anniversary years. They will consist of foot columns with front standards, battle flags of famous formations and the most distinguished military units, small arms, weapons, equipment from the Great Patriotic War, and mechanized columns of historical military equipment.
Military units from 19 friendly states, including seven countries of the former Soviet Union, have been invited to participate in the parade on Red Square. Ten of these states have already confirmed their participation. Troops will participate in ceremonial events in 370 populated areas. Russian military units will also participate in the Victory Day celebrations in Sukhum, Tskhinvali, Dushanbe, and Bishkek.
