Residents of Bashkiria will see Mars close to Earth
On January 14, residents of Bashkiria can see Mars at its closest proximity to Earth. The planet currently has excellent brightness and angular size, so this is the best time to observe it. The Moon, which will pass near it on January 13 and 14, will help in the search so as not to confuse it with other bright stars and planets.
As reported by the Ufa City Planetarium, on the evening of January 13, Mars will be visible under the Moon. It looks like a bright yellow star of magnitude -1.4.
Mars and the Moon will come closest to each other on the morning of January 14 at 08.48 Ufa time. The distance between them will be only 13.2 arc minutes (for comparison, the angular diameter of the full Moon is 30 minutes), so they can fit together in the field of view of a telescope or binoculars.
Both luminaries will set over the horizon on the morning of January 14 in the northwest: Mars at 10:30 Ufa time and the Moon 15 minutes earlier.
