Medvedev, Komarov and Khabirov laid flowers at monument to General Shaimuratov

On December 24, in Ufa, the Deputy Chairman of the country's security council, Chairman of the United Russia Party Dmitry Medvedev, the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of Russia in the Volga Federal District Igor Komarov, and the Head of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov laid flowers at the monument to the Hero of Russia, Major General Minigali Shaimuratov.

The monument on the renovated Sovetskaya Square in Ufa was opened on October 11, 2022. Its author is Salavat Shcherbakov, the People's Artist of Russia. The sculptural composition was dedicated to the legendary 112th Bashkir Cavalry Division soldiers who performed feats on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War and to all compatriots who gave their lives for the Motherland.

The equestrian statue, more than 2 natural sizes high, is complemented by two bronze high reliefs depicting scenes from the glorious history of the 112th Bashkir Cavalry Division and the ancient Bashkir army. The memorial towers bear the coats of arms of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Bashkortostan, the texts of the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation on awarding General Shaimuratov the honorary title of Hero of Russia and lists of the Bashkir Cavalry Division fighters - 78 Heroes of the Soviet Union and 5 full cavaliers of the Order of Glory. The colonnade, embracing the pedestal on both sides, symbolizes the people's unification in the face of danger, in the face of the enemy, and gives the entire ensemble a solemn and monumental feel. On both sides of the pedestal, reliefs are telling about Shaimuratov, his roots, historical predecessors, and colleagues - the best representatives of the Bashkir army, depicting the life of an intelligence officer and diplomat who served as a military attaché in Turkey and China, was fluent in English, Chinese, Tatar, Uyghur and Kazakh, "traveled half the world on special assignments of the government," and already made an invaluable contribution to the defense of the Fatherland.

Reconstruction of Sovetskaya Square began in the summer of 2020. Builders expanded its territory and planted a park beside the Bashkir State Pedagogical University. In front of Children's Music School No. 1. In September 2021, a light and music fountain was launched.
