Bashinform News Agency journalist wins all-Russian competition

An extended interview with Bashinform News Agency special correspondent Ksenia Kalinina, “How the life of Ilnaz Davletov from Bashkiria, who was left without arms, has changed in the two years since the tragedy,” won the “Help is Nearby” nomination of the XV All-Russian competition of journalistic works “Focus on the Family,” organized by the Foundation for Supporting Children in Difficult Life Situations. The final event and award ceremony for the participants of the creative competition took place in Moscow the day before. It was held under the auspices of the State Duma Committee for the Protection of the Family, Fatherhood, Motherhood, and Childhood.

According to the organizers, the All-Russian competition “Focus on the Family” received a wide response in 2024. Its geography covered 82 subjects. Regional organizing committees and expert groups in the territories reviewed 2,178 works. This year, 591 applications from 70 country regions were recommended for participation in the final stage. Based on an independent expert assessment involving leading specialists working with families and children and representatives of the journalistic community, 39 works were noted, including material from the Republic of Bashkortostan, prepared by a special correspondent of Bashinform News Agency.

Ksenia Kalinina met the publication's hero, Ilnaz, and his family. She was one of the first to learn about the incident, which shocked not only the residents of Bashkortostan but also other regions of the country and even abroad. The journalist believes that people like Ilnaz are worthy and should be written about because they instill faith in the best, that everything is possible, and that you must think and strive for your dream.

The Children's Support Foundation held its first creative competition for social journalists in 2009. Since then, it has become one of the Foundation's popular all-Russian projects. The competition is an important part of the large-scale information campaign “Family is my main life project,” a significant event for the journalistic community and everyone involved in family and childhood support. The co-organizers of the competition are the executive authorities of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation exercising powers in the social protection and social services for the population.
