Bashkiria hit top three regions participating in "Water of Russia" campaign

The following season of the all-Russian campaign to clean up the banks of water bodies from garbage, "Water of Russia," has ended. It became a record in terms of the indicators achieved. In 2024, almost 1.55 million volunteers participated in the campaign, cleaning up more than 54 thousand km of coastal areas, significantly exceeding the length of the Earth's equator. Volunteers of the "Water of Russia" campaign collected 118 thousand cubic meters of waste, a significant part of which was sent for recycling. A total of 28,252 environmental campaigns were held in all regions of the country.

As reported to Bashinform News Agency by the Ministry of Ecology of the republic, Bashkiria took an honorable 3rd place in the rating of regions participating in the campaign. In the republic, 112 thousand volunteers participated in the campaign, cleaning up over 5 thousand km of coasts. "Thanks to the joint efforts of concerned residents of the republic and volunteer organizations, we entered the top three leaders of the all-Russian campaign. This imposes an even greater responsibility for conserving and rationalizing water resources. Thank you all for your participation and high results. Thank you to each of you for your sincere desire to benefit your republic," said Acting Minister of Nature Management and Ecology of the Republic of Bashkortostan Niyaz Fazylov.

Following the campaign, a ceremonial event was held at the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia, where active "Water of Russia" participants were presented with honorary awards.

The "Water of Russia" campaign is one of the country's most significant volunteer environmental initiatives. It was carried out by the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia in 2014 as part of the implementation of the national project "Ecology." During this time, 11.5 million people from all Russian regions participated.
