The regional Ministry of Forestry reported that the cities and districts of Bashkiria will control the procurement and sale of New Year trees thanks to the launched operational and preventive operation "Yel-2024."
Forest inspectors, together with law enforcement officers, will organize round-the-clock patrols of forests in suspected places of illegal procurement of young coniferous trees until January 8, 2025. Traditionally, stationary posts are created in the republic to control the transportation of New Year trees on public roads and exit from forests. In addition, Christmas tree markets will be systematically inspected.
The Ministry of Forestry of Bashkiria reminded that administrative and criminal liability is provided for the illegal cutting of New Year trees. Thus, if illegal logging is carried out using mechanisms, vehicles, self-propelled machines, and other types of equipment, citizens will face a fine of up to five thousand rubles and legal entities—of up to 500 thousand rubles. During the last New Year holidays, inspectors detained 20 violators.
