Largest spontaneous landfill was eliminated in Bashkiria

The republic's largest spontaneous landfill of household waste, which covers 18.1 hectares, was eliminated in Sterlitamak. According to the press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia, almost 1.5 million cubic meters of garbage have accumulated here since 1959, when this landfill was formed.

Another large landfill was eliminated in Kumertau. Its area is 8.4 hectares, and 850 thousand cubic meters of waste have accumulated here. Reclamation included technical and biological stages. Specialists installed modern systems for collecting and cleaning filtrate and gas neutralization. This will eliminate the negative impact of harmful emissions and discharges of pollutants into the environment. The body of the landfills is covered with a protective layer and fertile soil, and the territory of the former landfills is landscaped.

The liquidation of illegal dumps was carried out in Bashkiria as part of implementing the federal project "Clean Country" and the national project "Ecology." In total, six illegal dumps located within the boundaries of the cities of Baymak, Blagoveshchensk, Davlekanovo, Sibay, Sterlitamak, and Kumertau were liquidated in the republic under this project.
