Russia approves new GOST for school uniforms

Russia has approved a GOST for school uniforms, Izvestia reports. The standard will be introduced on July 1, 2025. The GOST does not establish a single type of school uniform — requirements are imposed on manufacturing, labeling, and packaging.

According to the document, the main items of a school uniform include a blouse, vest, jacket/jacket/blazer, cardigan, jumper, sweater/turtleneck, shirt, dress/sundress, skirt, trousers, shorts, and overalls.

The standard also requires that school uniform fittings not have sharp or protruding edges. No specific conditions are imposed on clothing design. The uniform may have emblems, patches, fittings with symbols, and other decorative elements used in an educational organization.

The GOST does not apply to shoes and sportswear.
