Bashkiria has sent bill to government to combat smoking in schools
Deputies of the State Assembly of Bashkiria have sent a draft of a federal law aimed at combating smoking in schools to the federal government for an opinion. The press service of the republican parliament reported this.
According to the Chairman of the State Assembly of the Republic, Konstantin Tolkachev, the problem of smoking in the school environment remains relevant; 35% of Russian children and teenagers smoke regularly. According to research by psychologists, approximately 56% of smokers got their first experience of smoking at school.
Bashkiria parliamentarians propose to supplement the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation by indicating the territories and premises of schools and kindergartens as places where smoking is prohibited and imposing an administrative fine of 2,000 to 3,000 rubles (smoking is currently prohibited only on playgrounds).
