Mortality from cancer is decreasing - Ministry of Health

In Bashkiria, mortality from cancer is decreasing, reports the republic's Ministry of Health. According to the department, in the region, the mortality rate from malignant neoplasms in 2019 was 179.3 cases per 100 thousand population in 2023 - 154.9.

Thanks to the development of oncology services, high results were achieved in Bashkiria. In particular, implementing the regional program “Fighting Cancer” of the national project “Health” made it possible to create outpatient cancer care centers based on 13 multidisciplinary medical organizations of the republic, where patients are examined. In addition, 24-hour departments and day hospitals for antitumor drug therapy are open in 10 branches of the oncology clinic. All this has improved the availability of modern antitumor treatment.

Thanks to telemedicine consultations, patient examination logistics have significantly improved. Residents of remote villages and hamlets do not always need to come to Ufa. Last year, more than 60,000 telemedicine consultations were conducted.

Currently, the Republican Oncology Center is introducing into practice the determination of molecular genetic markers for colorectal cancer, skin melanoma, and non-small cell lung cancer, which will make it possible to identify oncological pathology in relatives of patients at the preclinical stage of the disease, the Ministry of Health of the Republic noted.
