

On June 22, on the 83rd anniversary of the start of the Great Patriotic War, Russian President Vladimir Putin honored the memory of those killed in battles against the Nazi invaders by laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier near the Kremlin wall. The press service of the President of the Russian Federation reported this.
The ceremony, which took place in the Alexander Garden, was attended by combat veterans, military personnel, and graduates of military universities. Defense Minister Andrei Belousov also laid flowers at the Eternal Flame. Participants honored the memory of the defenders of the Fatherland with a minute of silence.
The event continued with a solemn march of the honor guard company and orchestra in front of the National Memorial of Military Glory. The President also laid flowers at the obelisks of hero cities and a memorial sign to honor the cities awarded the honorary title “City of Military Glory.”
