Salavat Yulaev's 270th anniversary will be celebrated in Bashkiria

Bashkiria will celebrate the 270th anniversary of the birth of the national hero of the republic, Salavat Yulaev, on a grand scale. Festive events will occur on June 16 in the hero’s homeland - in the Sabantuinaya clearing in the Salavat region. On this day, the republican folk festival “Salauat yiyiny” is planned there, as well as the opening of the historical and memorial park “Salauat ere” on the site of Salavat Yulaev’s native village Tekeyevo.

The holiday was first held 20 years ago in honor of the 250th anniversary of Salavat Yulaev's birth. Subsequently, it was held in different regions and cities: Baltachevsky, Chekmagushevsky, and Ishimbaysky districts, in Salavat and Ufa. Since 2011, it has been held in the Salavat region and is one of its brand events.

Minister of Culture of the Republic of Belarus Amina Shafikova noted that this year, the holiday will become one of the brightest events in the social and cultural life of the republic. As part of the anniversary events, the following are planned:

— republican horse racing “Akbuzat”;

— theatrical performance “Salauat Varitary”;

— yurt competition “Best Bashkir yurt”;

- children's Sabantuy;

— Republican competition “Bez - Salauat tohomo” (“We are the descendants of Salavat”). The “Salauat Batyrs” competition is being held among boys, and “Yezek kashy - Zeleykha” among girls;

- republican competition for the best souvenir products associated with the name of Salavat Yulaev - “Oran”;

— interregional festival of national and ethnic sports, “Salauat baygehe”;

— open republican tournament in national wrestling “Koresh” for the Salavat Yulaev prize;

— concert of masters of the art of Bashkortostan on the main stage;

- Congress of Kuraists of Bashkortostan;

— round table on preserving the memory of Salavat Yulaev (June 15).

Salavat Yulaev is a national hero of the Bashkir people, sesan, poet-improviser, and leader of the Peasant War of 1773–1775. His life, struggle, and exploits have become a symbol of courage and love for the Motherland of all peoples. In honor of the hero, the highest state awards of the Republic of Bashkortostan were established: the Order of Salavat Yulaev and the State Prize named after Salavat Yulaev.
