A strategic session was held at the Eurasian NEC to determine new vectors of development. Today's main task is to shift the scientific vector towards production tasks. Public policy development is heading towards implementing the Russian agenda, relying on the national technological base.
Solving import substitution issues by creating our unique technologies became the main topic of the strategic session “Advanced directions of scientific and technological development of the Eurasian NEC.”
“The Eurasian NEC is a driving tool for the development of science in Bashkortostan. We have already done much to unite industry and science, but we have more ambitious plans. The current NEC program has been implemented since 2020. 2024 is the final year for the program in its current form for those areas and technological projects that have been highlighted. Our task today is, through joint brainstorming, to develop the directions that our science will follow over the next 5 years. I wish everyone successful and productive work,” says Natalia Latypova, director of the NEC management company.
All partners of the Eurasian NEC—universities, scientific organizations, and the industrial sector—participated in the strategic session. Five groups and more than 50 representatives of the scientific and industrial community made proposals for the region's further scientific and technological development based on their competencies and project topics.
“As you know, the NEC program is a form of dialogue with the Federation. When republics or organizations are fighting for a federal resource, it is important that the projects' topics are strategically significant and relevant,” said Dmitry Sanatov, head of the North-West Center for Strategic Research.
Work at the NEC site was carried out in five key areas: advanced manufacturing technologies, chemistry and chemical engineering, genomics, biomedicine, and microelectronics and photonics technologies.
In the process of working on a new program of activities of the Eurasian NEC, within the framework of the strategic session, new cooperation chains and vectors of interaction between science and business were formed.
“The NEC's program of activities is based on technological projects. Companies have problems and need to solve them as effectively as possible. NEC is significant in terms of interaction between universities and organizations. Now, there is a process in which large companies start to interact with each other. If you look at our projects in summary, they are extremely knowledge-intensive and diverse, but a production feature is also necessary. It is necessary to select those topics that keep you in the foreground,” summed up Dmitry Sanatov.
Project proposals will be analyzed based on the strategic session's results. The most promising scientific and technological projects will form the basis of the Eurasian NEC's new program of activities.
