State Duma adopted children's rights protecting law

The State Duma of the Russian Federation adopted a law protecting the rights of disabled children. Deputies also adopted a law prohibiting deputies from writing off the pensions they receive when collecting debts from another person.

Amendments are being made to the law “On Enforcement Proceedings.” The document prohibits writing off the pensions they receive when collecting debts from another person. “This can happen in cases where the pension of disabled minors and those declared incompetent go to the accounts of their parents, adoptive parents, or guardians. When these people cannot pay off their debts, the disabled person’s pension is unprotected during enforcement procedures,” Vasily Piskarev, Chairman of the Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption, previously explained.

“Pensions of disabled children are credited to the accounts of parents, guardians, or trustees and must be protected from penalties,” State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin said earlier.

The parliament added that immunity from collection is also proposed to be extended to social supplements and pensions in the event of the loss of a breadwinner.
