Russian scientists have developed world's first cure for ankylosing spondylitis

Russian scientists have developed the world's first cure for ankylosing spondylitis. Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University employees of the Russian Ministry of Health took part in creating a necessary drug. Experts are ahead of their foreign colleagues, and the drug is now undergoing the third phase of clinical trials.

The drug can help tens of thousands of people who suffer from an incurable disease. This was stated by the Prime Minister of the country's government, Mikhail Mishustin.

“Thanks to the development of medical science, innovative biomedical cell products and tissue engineering began to be introduced into clinical practice for the first time. Over 6 million people need them. We are also completing studies to register the world’s first cure for previously incurable ankylosing spondylitis. Scientists worldwide struggled with how to stop its development, and Russian innovators managed to create a drug that could help tens of thousands of people. We are proud of such successes,” said Mikhail Mishustin.

The Ministry of Health of Bashkiria reported that more than a thousand patients with ankylosing spondylitis (“Ankylosing spondylitis”) live in the republic. The department added that specialists regularly inform the population about the disease's problems, symptoms, and possible consequences to improve diagnosis and reduce disability.
