The day before, an event dedicated to the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia was held at the Bashkortostan Hall. It opened with a minute of silence for those killed in the terrorist attack in the Moscow region, which coincided with the tragic events in Khatyn. The entire hall paid tribute to the memory of the victims while standing, and white cranes flew up on the screen like an endless wedge.
The Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia is a holiday symbolizing Belarusians and Russians' common historical destinies, centuries-old strong friendship, and spiritual brotherhood. Its participants were welcomed by the First Deputy Minister of Culture of Bashkiria, Natalya Lapshina, the head of the branch of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in Ufa Artur Karpovich, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Economic Relations and Congress Activities of the Republic Aliya Ilyasova.
Natalya Lapshina spoke about the close cooperation between Bashkiria and Belarus in the economic, social, and cultural spheres.
“These include direct regular flights, tourism programs, and close interaction in the cultural sphere: tours, museum programs, and cultural events. The House of Friendship of Peoples and the “Belarusians of Bashkortostan” are carrying out significant work on cultural interaction,” noted the deputy minister.
Arthur Karpovich emphasized that the relationship between the two republics is active and productive. He expressed gratitude and presented letters of appreciation to the Ministry of Culture of Bashkiria and the House of Friendship of Peoples.
“Relations between Belarus and Bashkiria are not limited to territorial borders, uniting peoples in the spirit of mutual respect. An important component of such relationships is interregional cooperation - 5 twinning agreements have been drawn up between the municipal districts of the two republics,” said Aliya Ilyasova.
In addition, as part of the event, letters of gratitude were presented from the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations and Congress Activities of the Republic to Raisa Zyuzko, the head of the regional public organization “Belarusians of Bashkortostan,” for her outstanding contribution to the strengthening and development of international and interethnic relations.
A cultural program was also provided. Ufa groups and soloists performed for the event participants: Almaz Ayupov, pop ballet “Credo,” a folk ensemble of the Belarusian song “Syabry,” Victoria Pivovartseva, vocal and variety studio “Baby-Shlyager,” folk dance ensemble “Idel.”
