Airlines will pay fines to passengers for flight delays from April 1

From April 1, airlines will pay passengers a fine of 100 rubles per hour for flight delays. TASS reports this, citing changes to the Air Code today.

According to the publication, previously, for late delivery of a passenger or baggage, the airline had to pay a fine of 25% of the established minimum wage for each hour of delay but not more than half of the cost of transportation. The bare minimum wage for calculating fines is 100 rubles. According to the new norm, the maximum refund will be no more than half the air ticket cost.

The passenger must submit a written claim to the company for a refund.

“The company reviews the application and, provided that the flight delay was due to the airline's fault, requests the passenger’s bank card details and returns the required amount in proportion to the delay time, but not more than 100 rubles per hour. Flight delays due to weather conditions and those related to flight safety are not subject to a fine,” the TASS source explained.

Earlier, Bashinform News Agency reported that Ufa Airport is switching to a summer schedule. In total, 40 airlines will currently operate flights to 69 destinations.
