71 years later, comet Pons-Brooks appeared again in the skies over Bashkiria. These days, it can be seen after dark using binoculars or a telescope in the northwest, the Ufa Planetarium reports. It should be taken into account that it does not look like a star but like a blurry, foggy speck, and it is better to observe it outside the city, where city lights do not illuminate the sky.
According to experts, in April, the comet will become brighter and may be visible to the naked eye. The comet is approaching the Sun and, on April 21, will pass perihelion - the point of its orbit closest to the Sun.
As it approaches the Sun, the comet's visibility conditions will deteriorate: it will be visible for a short time below the horizon. On April 10, the comet will be close to the new moon and Jupiter.
After passing perihelion on April 21, the comet moves to the southern hemisphere and becomes invisible at our latitudes.
