State Duma will consider bill from Bashkiria to protect citizens’ labor rights
In April, the State Duma will consider the bill “On Amendments to Article 179 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation” submitted by the State Assembly of Bashkiria. The press service of the Republican Parliament reported this.
As noted by the Chairman of the State Assembly of the Republic, Konstantin Tolkachev, the bill aims to protect workers of pre-retirement age. The current edition of the Labor Code defines a list of persons who are given preference - with equal labor productivity and qualifications - in maintaining a job when the number or staff of an enterprise is reduced. The bill proposes to include another category in this list - the so-called pre-pensioners, citizens with no more than five years left before receiving an old-age pension.
