According to the Ministry of Ecology of Bashkiria, the number of Siberian roe deer in the republic has increased in the last decade. On average, these animals grow by 500 individuals every year. If in 2013-2014, approximately 15 thousand roe deer lived in the hunting grounds of the republic, then according to the latest accounting data, their number is estimated at 30 thousand. The growth of the population is also evidenced by data on large herds of roe deer, which hunters often encounter.
Most often and in large numbers, roe deer are found in Baymaksky, Uchalinsky, Belokataysky, Duvansky, Mechetlinsky, Aurgazinsky, Alsheevsky, Arkhangelsky, Fedorovsky and Tuymazinsky regions. The least roe deer live in mountain forest areas.
In the first months of life, roe deer cubs are helpless; they hide in shelters 200-300 m from each other. The mother is resting separately, being nearby. That is why when you find roe deer cubs in the forest in the spring and early summer, you should not touch them and take them home.
