Head of Bashkiria signed law on specially protected natural areas

Bashkiria adopted a law on specially protected natural areas of local significance, reports the press service of the State Assembly of the Republic. The document was signed by the Head of the Republic, Radiy Khabirov.

As the chairman of the regional parliament, Konstantin Tolkachev, commented, the initiative gives local governments legal tools to develop tourism on their territory while preserving environmental well-being and biological diversity.

“For the rational use of natural factors, the concept of specially protected natural areas of local importance has been introduced. These include tourist and recreational areas, natural reserves, and protected natural complexes. Specially protected natural areas of local importance will be created by local government bodies under whose jurisdiction they are,” he noted.

Natural reserves include natural complexes of land or water that are valuable “in environmental, aesthetic and recreational terms and created to preserve, reproduce or restoring certain types of natural resources in combination with the limited, regulated and rational use of others.” Creating protected natural complexes aims to protect landscape, geological, and biological diversity and preserve geocomplexes and terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems.
