Regional operator status will be extended without competition for investments

At the next plenary meeting of the State Assembly - Kurultai of the Republic of Bashkortostan at the end of January, deputies plan to adopt the law “On Amendments to the Law of the Republic of Bashkortostan “On Production and Consumption Waste”. Bashinform News Agency was informed about this by the press service of the State Assembly.

“The bill aims to develop the infrastructure for processing solid municipal waste and reducing waste disposal volume. The possibility of a one-time extension of the status of a regional operator without a competitive selection is established if the regional operator has invested at least 1 billion rubles in the construction or reconstruction of a facility for processing, recycling, neutralization, and burial of MSW and receives at least 20% of all waste generated in the operator’s area of activity. At the same time, the waste disposal volume arriving at the site should be reduced by at least half,” said Chairman of the State Assembly Konstantin Tolkachev.

The status of the regional operator, subject to the above conditions, will be extended without competition for no more than five years.

“Changes in legislation will encourage businesses to develop civilized waste management methods. Investments in waste processing will improve the environmental situation in the republic,” says Konstantin Tolkachev.

The bill was adopted in the first reading in October. No amendments were received to it.
