Head of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov, was shown new electric train capabilities

On December 6, at the Ufa railway station, the Head of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov and the head of the Kuibyshev Railway of Russian Railways, Vyacheslav Dmitriev, got acquainted with the capabilities of the new Russian electric train EP2DM. It can board and disembark passengers on both high and low platforms.

During the presentation, the General Director of Bashkortostan Suburban Passenger Company JSC Anton Garmash said the train received new design solutions compared to the base model, EP2D.

The passenger cabins have new ergonomic seats, light lines, USB connectors for charging gadgets, and new liquid crystal information boards. In hot, sunny weather, all the windows of the cars are tinted, climate control is installed in the cabins, and the temperature is always comfortable for passengers. The head carriages are equipped with racks for bicycles to keep them in place while moving and not interfere with others. In addition, pedal technology travels in an upright position, taking up much less space.

Additional automatic steps are used for convenient entry and exit from low platforms in the area of the external doors for passengers. Radiy Khabirov drew particular attention to the fact that a barrier-free environment for people with disabilities has been created in the head cars of the new electric train. The new electric train will serve seven suburban routes within the Ufa urban agglomeration. From December 10, two new “Swallows” will go along mining routes, including to the Chelyabinsk region, and will also cover the route to Abdullino in the Orengburg region with two new trains.

The speed of the EP2DM electric train is up to 120 km/h. The electric train consists of almost 100% Russian components; dependence on imported parts is eliminated. This is a significant factor for future mass production of the model.

The resulting train became an essential milestone in developing Russian railway engineering. It showed domestic manufacturers can create modern, comfortable trains that meet all safety requirements.
