Bashkir honey was sent to International Space Station

Today, November 28, from the stand of Bashkortostan at the international exhibition and forum “Russia,” they sent Bashkir honey to the space station for domestic cosmonauts. The ceremony was part of the regional agriculture week - “Agrarian Bashkortostan”. It will last until December 2.

The manufacturer of special food for astronauts, the Biryulevsky Experimental Plant of Food Concentrates, and the Bashkir Honey Company agreed to supply a batch of high-quality honey. In total, the production donated 40 kilograms of honey to the plant.

Soon, it will be packaged and sent on a cargo ship to the International Space Station, said Roscosmos cosmonaut, Hero of Russia, head of the Bashkortostan regional branch of the Russian Cosmonautics Federation, Mikhail Kornienko, who took part in the ceremony.

“Med is very supportive of astronauts in orbit. Everyone knows and understands that this is the most useful product. In space, it is doubly needed - I confirm this; I flew for a year and a half - we use it there to the fullest. This is necessary in an astronaut’s diet,” Mikhail Kornienko emphasized.

Director of the Biryulevsky Experimental Plant, Mikhail Irinev, emphasized that honey is an indispensable part of the astronauts’ diet; it contains many vitamins and microelements. Well, Bashkir honey is recognized as the best, so the choice fell on it.

“We have been supplying honey for the needs of astronautics for more than 20 years. We know all the quality requirements and are ready to supply our product for many more years,” said Dilyara Gilfanova, head of the Bashkir Honey Company.

Remember that Bashkortostan has led commercial honey production in Russia for many years. In the current year, which was difficult due to weather conditions, the apiaries in the region produced about 6.5 thousand tons of excellent quality honey, the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of Bashkortostan told the Bashinform News Agency. There are approximately 300 thousand bee families in the republic.
