State Duma deputies in the third reading adopted amendments to the federal laws “On the objects of the cultural heritage of the peoples of the Russian Federation” and “On the perpetuation of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945.” This was reported on the parliament website.
According to the law, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation will approve a register of monuments of the Great Patriotic War, and it will become easier for municipalities on whose territory such monuments are located to care for them. It will be enough to notify the local authorities to protect cultural heritage sites about current repairs. Historical and cultural expertise will not be needed, and it will be possible to hire workers, which will simplify and reduce the cost of repairs.
The document also stipulates that the monuments of the Great Patriotic War will include burials of soldiers with tombstones, steles, obelisks, and fences.
Earlier, Bashinform News Agency talked about new laws coming into force in Russia on October 1.
