Olympic Committee will financially compensate athletes for missing 2024 Olympics

The Russian Olympic Committee, from its funds, will compensate members of the Russian Olympic team for missing the 2024 Olympics in Paris. Its chairman, Stanislav Pozdnyakov, announced this today at the expanded board of the ROC.

“The ROC, although a public organization, is ready to compensate for the losses that inevitably arise among our athletes. I was instructed to prepare a project that provides for payments to members of the Russian Olympic team - those who previously competed at the Olympic Games, continue to perform and prepare, and are deprived of the opportunity to participate in international competitions fully. Or those who, for moral reasons, do not want to sign documents and do not participate in such events,” federal media quote Pozdnyakov as saying.

For summer sports, payments will start in the summer of 2024. The amount of one-time assistance will depend on sports results and will be 500 thousand, 350 thousand, and 250 thousand rubles. All Olympic team members who did not quit training will receive 150 thousand rubles.
