By the beginning of the all-Russian vaccination campaign, Bashkortostan received 842 thousand Russian-made flu vaccines - Sovigripp and Ultrix Quadri. This is the first of two planned stages of supplies of influenza vaccines to the region, carried out by order of the Russian Ministry of Health in 2023.
As Bashinform News Agency was told by the press service of the Ministry of Health, 97.5 thousand doses of Ultrix are intended for immunization of children, and almost 66 thousand doses are provided for patients with chronic diseases and pregnant women. More than 552 thousand doses of Sovigripp will be used to vaccinate the adult population and another 9.5 thousand - to conscripts.
"Ultrix Quadri" protects the body from four current strains of the influenza virus - two subtypes of the A virus and two influenza B viruses of two lines. The drug contains 15 mcg of antigens of each strain in one dose - a total of 60 mcg. This is the composition recommended for inclusion in inactivated vaccines. Ultrix Quadri is produced in the Ryazan region. Since 2021, the drug has been approved for use for all ages, including children from 6 months and pregnant women.
Sovigripp is an inactivated trivalent subunit vaccine. The drug has been widely used in Russian healthcare practice since 2015. The vaccine is available in both vials and pre-filled syringes.
“The flu vaccine is the main method of preventing this dangerous disease. Numerous studies have proven that in people vaccinated against influenza, the number of severe cases decreases, and complicated forms of the disease and deaths are recorded less frequently,” the republic’s Ministry of Health recalled.
