Regarding birth rate growth, Bashkiria hit Top-5 in the Volga Federal District. 3,027 babies were born in the republic in May, 83 more than in the same month last year.

In general, in January-May, 14,648 children were born in the republic, 2.5% less than a year earlier. But the rate of decline in the birth rate has fallen by 2 percentage points. A year earlier, it was minus 4.5%. Compared with the same period of the previous year, the number of first-born children remained at the last year's level. At the same time, second-order children were born 5% less, and third and subsequent children were born 2.4% less. The birth rate for the period in the republic amounted to 8.7 births per 1000 population, which is more than the average for Russia (8.5) and the Volga Federal District (7.9).

The largest number of babies were born in Burzyansky, Arkhangelsk, Abzelilovsky, Baimaksky, Mishkinsky, and Iglinsky districts. The Prime Minister of Bashkiria, Andrey Nazarov, published data on his social media.

To stimulate the birth rate, a plan has been approved in Bashkiria until 2025, which includes several tasks: support for pregnant women to reduce the number of abortions, strengthening reproductive health and developing assisted reproductive technologies, supporting young student families, large families, working parents with children under the age of 10 years, the formation of a value basis for increasing the birth rate.

“We will continue to work out measures to support families with children, paying attention to strengthening the family,” Andrey Nazarov emphasized.
