Radiy Khabirov presented Salavat Yulaev Medal to Soviet hockey player and coach Rafail Ishmatov

The Head of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov, met with the Soviet hockey player, USSR Master of Sports, Honored Coach of Russia Rafail Ishmatov, who played for the Salavat Yulaev team in the 1970s and 1980s and is one of the top five snipers in the history of the sports club.

Rafail Ishmatov is a multiple winner and prize-winner of competitions, including international ones. He worked in coaching positions in the Salavat Yulaev team and other Russian clubs. From 2002 to 2004, he was the head coach of the Russian youth team.

The renowned sports educator continues to pass on knowledge to the younger generation. Since 2006, he has taught at the National State University of Physical Culture, Sports, and Health. He is the sports director of the Specialized Children's and Youth School of the Olympic Reserve SKA.

Rafail Ishmatov celebrated his birthday on August 2. The head of the region congratulated the legendary hockey player and mentor on the holiday and wished him health and well-being.

“You have done a lot for Soviet and Russian sports. And, of course, they made a huge contribution to the development of Bashkir hockey. Our athletes and fans treat you with great respect,” said Radiy Khabirov.

For many years of conscientious work and a significant contribution to physical culture and sports development, the Head of Bashkortostan presented Rafail Ishmatov with Salavat Yulaev Medal.
